While conventions and big reveals have been rather short as we deal with this pandemic, there are some exciting items on the way. This “Preview” will be part of a series of Previews highlighting upcoming toy sets that we either have already been made aware of (and have orders placed for!), or are just rumored. Some items we do already have a handful of pictures for that had been revealed before conventions and expos were shut down, others will only have some vague references. None of these items, even the ones we already have our orders in for, can be listed for pre-order until we get the green light from the manufacturers and distributors. So this is just a preview of things to come. When these items are available for pre-order, we’ll make another announcement and have the items listed for sale.
Our seventh and final preview (for now!) is for the second wave of the G.I. Joe The Classified Series action figures. We have not found any images or leaks for the figures in this set. We have found plenty of speculation (and it would be great if the set expands from what we were originally told to include some of the figures being speculated about, like Storm Shadow and the Baroness!). But before we get into what we DO know, take a look at the preview poster one more time….
The poster has provided the most insight. Wave 1 included Destro, Duke, Roadblock, Scarlett, and Snake Eyes. This set did phenomenally well and we actually ordered additional units to help meet the demand for pre-orders. We were a little hesitant when originally placing the order because we weren’t certain whether nostalgia would be enough to make this series successful. I personally grew up loving G.I. Joe and playing with the figures, but when I asked my daughter, she said she had zero interest in it (devastating!). But we decided to try it and definitely sold better than anticipated.
So that was Wave 1. What comes in Wave 2? We were originally told that there were going to be THREE figures in the Wave 2 release. That said, Snake Eyes was held back from the Wave 1 release and Hasbro even released two different “set” images, one without Snake Eyes, and one with him after formally announcing that he was going to be included in the set. So while Wave 2 only has announced 3 figures, every set my a manufacturer has a disclaimer that the contents of the release is “subject to change.” So while we know of 3 figures, it would make sense if Wave 2 had the same composition as Wave 1 and included 5 figures (meaning Storm Shadow and the Baroness might have hope!).
But in the meantime, who are the three figures we have been told about? If you look at the poster, they are staring you right in the face….. right behind Roadblock is Gung Ho, back left corner is Cobra Commander, and under the Baroness is the Red Ninja. Hopefully the wave will include more figures than that, and when we get the official announcement we’ll get pre-orders up so people can start adding these figures to their collection too!
