ACB Preview: Deadpool

While conventions and big reveals have been rather short as we deal with this pandemic, there are some exciting items on the way. This “Preview” will be part of a series of Previews highlighting upcoming toy sets that we either have already been made aware of (and have orders placed for!), or are just rumored. Some items we do already have a handful of pictures for that had been revealed before conventions and expos were shut down, others will only have some vague references. None of these items, even the ones we already have our orders in for, can be listed for pre-order until we get the green light from the manufacturers and distributors. So this is just a preview of things to come. When these items are available for pre-order, we’ll make another announcement and have the items listed for sale.

Our third preview is sticking with the X-theme of the recent Daughter & Daddy Reviews and our second preview of the X-Men Anniversary Collection. While this next set is not movie inspired like the Anniversary Collection, we’re getting some pretty cool members of X-Force and X-Factor turned into Marvel Legends. The set is expected to have six figures, only five of which have been unveiled thus far, but the five we’re aware of are…..

You can’t have a “Deadpool” wave without Deadpool in it. This one is definitely different, in a blue and yellow X-Men costume. After seeing the X-Men Anniversary collection’s Deadpool, this one looks like a bit of a disappoint to me. But I asked the “Daughter” from our reviews and after pondering it for a minute said, “I like the blue.” So there you go.

Originally from the New Mutants, then X-Force, and even once upon a time an Avenger, Sunspot is a long awaited figure to be added. Seeing Cannonball in the last X-Force wave, I knew Sunspot couldn’t be far behind, and I’m glad we’re finally getting him.

Warpath is another long awaited figure. We had been looking to add Warpath to our own collection for quite some time. There were a few older ones we had seen that were quite costly, and we ultimately found an old Thunderbird (the quality of which was quite disappointing!). So his arrival will be very well received on our end. A great character and no matter what, he has to be a better action figure than the Thunderbird we currently have!

To be honest, I remember Maverick and can visualize him being illustrated by legendary artist Jim Lee. Beyond that, I don’t really remember the character all that much at all. I’ll have to do a little research before he arrives so I can answer more questions about him!

Ryan Reynolds jokes in Deadpool 2 aside, Black Tom Cassidy was always a classic villain partnered with the Juggernaut during the Claremont run of the comics. Since we’ve had Juggernaut as a Build-a-Figure, and then later in a 2-pack with Colossus, Black Tom has been notably absent. It will be nice to have that duo together in Marvel Legends form.

So who will be the last figure in this set? There’s so many figures it could be. Feral or Siryn would be my top 2 hopefuls on my wishlist. But what about Dani?Rahne? Rictor? Magma? Karma? Rusty? Skids? Walgreens had the Dani Moonstar Exclusive figure that had alternate heads for Rahne and Karma, so that trio probably wouldn’t be in the mix this quickly (though we never found the figure ourselves!). Still, our fingers are crossed for Feral or Siryn (and from the “Daughter” pick – “I like Feral more, she’s cute.”). Of course…. with Black Tom Cassidy in this wave…. maybe that gives the nod to Siryn who is his niece? Guess we’ll see in time. Who are you hoping would be the final figure in this wave?

But whoever the final figure is, the Build a Figure for this one will be X-Factor’s Strong Guy. Originally the bodyguard of Lila Cheney and later connected with Dazzler, he was largely a background character making occasional cameos until he became a member of X-Factor, where, he was aptly the “strong guy” on the team.
