In one of our prior Previews features, we had discussed the launch of the Venomized Marvel Legends scheduled to come out at the end of 2020 (depending on what happens with The Eternals, this likely is the last big release of 2020). The full lineup has been announced now though.
Before getting into the figures in the set, I am most excited for the Build-a-Figure for this one, which had been kept under wraps until now. The new build a figure and feature of this wave is Venompool! The figure looks amazing. We’ll see if we do a review of this release or not, but if we do not (I’m thinking likely not since the “Daughter” portion of Daughter & Daddy Toy Reviews is not really a fan of the symbiotes), Venompool is the one I’ll miss.
In alphabetical order, first up is Carnage, one of the deadliest villains in the Marvel Universe and soon to be the primary protagonist in the second Venom movie. He looks quite different here than he did in his last release, clearly differentiating his character, but still showing him to be as deadly as always. Make sure your heroes look out, because Carnage is coming!
Second in the collection is a venomized Ghost-Spider. That is one crazy tongue! In the Marvel Legends Retro series, Gwen Stacy was extremely popular. I’ll be curious to see if her venomized alter-ego has a similar appeal.
From one hero to the next, we have Venomized Miles Morales Spider-Man. Miles Morales Spider-Man is an extremely popular character with tremendous fan appeal. Let’s see how he does infected by a symbiote.
Morbius, the living vampire is next. With his own movie on the horizon from Sony, Morbius is likely to be hot just as some other future movie-release figures (like Black Knight and Shang Chi). Morbius is the only figure in this set without a symbiote, keeping him true to his comic portrayal.
No Venom wave would be complete without introducing another one of the comic symbiotes, this time in the form of Phage. An offspring of Venom who was bred to be one of the Guardian Symbiotes. Other Guardian Symbiote releases, like Lasher, Toxin, and Scream had been extremely popular and very quickly became hard to find.
The last of the figures in the release is none other than Venom himself. He looks very different in this release. More fit and less muscular bulk. He also appears (from the pictures) to be shinier.
This wave is scheduled to be received in October of this year, and all figures and the entire set is now up for pre-order.
